Do I need any flying experience before starting training?
No previous experience is required. We provide beginner-friendly instruction designed to help new students learn confidently and comfortably from their very first lesson.
How long does it take to earn a Private Pilot License?
Training timelines vary depending on scheduling, consistency, and individual progress, but regular lessons help students complete certification requirements more efficiently and confidently.
Can you help me prepare for FAA written and practical exams?
Absolutely. Training includes preparation for FAA written examinations, checkrides, and practical evaluations through structured lessons and real-world aviation instruction sessions.
Do you offer both ground and flight instruction?
Yes. We provide complete training through both ground lessons and hands-on flight instruction tailored to each student’s experience level and aviation goals.

What is included in Private Pilot License training?

What is included in a Flight Review?
Flight Reviews include ground instruction and flight evaluations focused on safety, regulations, operational proficiency, and successfully maintaining FAA pilot-in-command currency requirements.
How do I get started with flight training?
Getting started is simple. Contact Brian’s Aviation to discuss your goals, training interests, scheduling availability, and the best path toward your aviation journey.
How much does Brian's Aviation charge for lessons?
Instructor rate is $60/hr both ground and flight. For the flight portion, you rent a plane and hire Brian to instruct. We can help with plane rental. We also quarantee that you will not pay more than $250/flight hour with the plane rental and instruction.
Are there any other costs that needs to be in the budget?
Yes. There are several items that you will need to purchase on your own. I can provide a list of those. Some you might already have and some you will have to get. Expect to spend $1000-$2000. Expect for the insurance and the navigation app subscription, everything else on the list will be a one time expense.
What areas do you serve?
Brian’s Aviation primarily serves students and pilots throughout Northern Utah with personalized, FAA-focused flight training and pilot proficiency instruction. Depending on the airport, there might be an additional small fee for time and travel to get there.
Is training scheduled around my availability?
Yes. We offer flexible scheduling options designed to accommodate students balancing aviation training with work, school, family, and other personal commitments.
Who needs an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC)?
Pilots with expired IFR currency requirements need an IPC to legally regain instrument flying privileges and restore operational readiness under Instrument Flight Rules.
What happens during an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC)?
An IPC evaluates instrument flying proficiency through IFR procedures, navigation, approaches, and operational readiness to restore instrument currency requirements.
Do you offer discovery flights?
Yes. We offer discovery flights.

You can have one additional person for $30.
What is the charge for a Flight Review or IPC?
The charge is $150. That includes minimum 1.5 hour ground and minimum 1.5 hour flight. We use an airplane that you provide to do the review. Plan for a minimum of 3 hours for either the Flight Review or IPC.
If I have access to an airplane, can you teach in it?
Yes. As the instructor, I would want to be familiar with the plane. I would need to look at the Pilot Operating Handbook for the plane and maintenance logbook.
